Police recordIts records the sentences pronounced by the penal jurisdictions (assizes court, assizes court for person under 18, appeal court, criminal court, police court, juvenile court, juvenile judge).
Its records also some decisions pronounced by the bankruptcy courts (compulsory liquidation, bankruptcy, commercial ban) and some of the disciplinary and administrative decisions when they enact or lead to inabilities even when they are not pronounced.
The information is announced in the form of extracts called in French “bulletins” of police record.
- Bulletin 1 is exclusively delivered to the judicial authorities
- Bulletin 2 is delivered to some administrative authorities
- Bulletin 3 is purely personal. Only the person concerned is allowed to ask for it. One can not ask for the bulletin of a third party, spouse of over 18 child.
To obtain an extract of the police record, you have to fill out a file with your full name, sex; date and place of birth, your complete address.
- If you were born in a French overseas territory, ask the Registry of the court os first instance of your place of birth
- In any other case (including French overseas departments), to the National Police Record : www.cjn.justice.gouv.fr
In case of emergency, you can :
Either send by certified mail or use the speed up service existing in the Administration and which impose to meet a deadline for the reply.
Or go personally with an ID to the National Police Record in Nantes.
Do not enclose any envelope or stamp for the reply. Fax, telegram or telephone requests are not accepted.
